Robin Hood lives on in - Daylight Robbers

Robin Hood lives on at Edin Airport - Except takes from the 'poor' and gives to the rich. Travelex are absolute rip off merchants. Bought US $ 120 from them at Edinburgh airport at a price of £123.33. Exchanged the money back on return and received £86.75. Did not need the cash - was only a back up and knew the exchange rate was a rip off - but a transaction loss of £36.58 is daylight robbery. AVOID AT ALL COSTS - GET CASH AT M&S or EQUAL before you go to airport 37% transaction fee in a 2 week period is as bad as loan sharks.

One star is too good Do not trust…

One star is too good Do not trust travelex card people we have been away 4 weeks they transferred money for us but to wrong card and won’t do anything about it ,now we are back we are taking them through the financial ombudsman for the money they put on wrong card and for the bank charges we got through our bank for using the card abroad 😡😡😡😡😡😡

Action needed

Can you tell me what your customer service number is for Uk, failing no number available as I refuse to ring the US, I will be contacting Resolver. Ive been back to Southend on sea, Tescos, Prince avenue, Essex, twice to ask them why Travelex is taking a monthly fee from my bank account, all I get told is that its been passed onto a manager. Nobody has contacted me with any updates! Novermber 9th, last year I exchanged £44.61 pounds over to euros it states on the receipts no fees. When the young lady, Sales Consultant (TE0229) , filled out a form and continued the transcation, I believe shes made a mistake and taken down my account number from my card. I contacted my bank and they informed that there is nothing from there end. I agreed to cancel my debit card and they issued me a new one. So you see your still taking the Non-GBP transfee! Since November, you have taken 7 amounts every month from my bank account. 18th November 2021 - 0.32 pence 17th December 2021 - 0.33 pence 18th January 2022 - 0.32 pence 18th February 2022 - 0.32 pence 17th March 2022 - 32 pence 19th April 2022 - 32 pence 17th May 2022 - 33 pence Can you please explain! I have not been to any other providers to warrant a NON-GBP Transfee.

Travelex Cash Passport Currency Card

I have used their currency card for many years without issue and really enjoyed it. However partly down to my own negligence I have found out how inconsiderate they are. I admit that I forgot that Travelex charge a dormancy fee when the card is not used for over a year and as a consequence i have lost in excess of £35. Now to the complete and outrageous behaviour of Travelex. For nearly 2 years i have not used the card due to the covid situation and as I was going to Amsterdam on Thursday last I decided to top up with some Euros on the Sunday before I was due to leave. Fortunately I tested it with just £50, in case they tried to claim dormancy fees for when the money ran out, It was only after the top up was accepted and completed that I noticed the card was expired. I called Travelex to see what could be done and basically the only option was to apply for a new card on-line or pick one up at the airport, on one call i was told they could send me a new card out, but on the next call I was told they couldn't, none of which helped the situation. When I queried why I wasn't notified the card had ran out, I was told that it only lasts for five years. Whilst I accept that I should have checked more before I tried to top up, but I find it absolutely incredible that during a 2 year period through Covid when people could not use their passport cards, that not only did Travel still take a dormancy fee from a card that could not be used, then to add insult to injury they don't think it right to notify customers, card holders that their card is out of date, even worse they still allow people to top up an expired card, that they can not use, disgusting service.

Hefty monthly charges for non use!

Avoid using this company to load and unload money to use for travelling. Hidden charges and poor customer service! I was gifted some money to use on a card back in 2018. Due to Coronavirus and other factors I haven’t been able to use it. When I recently signed in I was shocked to learn the company have been taking £2 per month from ‘my money’ for not using it! They have not been transparent about the monthly charges i.e sent me email notification about the situation so I could change it. When I recently called to share my disappointment I asked for the remaining money to be refunded and shocked to learn another £6 for that service! Please check all hidden charges I’d be inclined to sign up with another company such as Monzo.

Not a good experience

I do not as a rule write a review with regards to a company when it seems they have not served you with a reasonably fair service. However, and based upon my one time experience of selling currency back to them only, I have subsequently found out after I was provided with a completly unattractive rate which has left me approximately £60 down compared to some other companies an a few hundred pounds transaction. Had I shopped atound a bit it would have been better value to me. I generally trust businesses to treat me fairly and it quite obviously has not. Yes, they sent me standard reply to my concern when I asked why was my rate so uncompetitive but thier response did not directly address my initial enquiry. Unfortunately I do not see myself ever transacting any future business with Travelex, and why would I? I shall be more careful in future.
