MoneyLion has been honest, straightforward and a downright Godsend for me.  I am a senior citizen who needed a helping hand and MoneyLion gave it to me, and I apprieciate it.  I have no overdue bills because of the way MoneyLion has allowed me to borrow and pay them back on a schedule that was timely and didn't put me into further debt.  There policies and guidelines, have been truthful and easy for me to follow.

What MoneyLion Has Meant for Me

Love this app. I really only try to use it in emergencies so it makes having it all worthwhile and you get to build credit

They have you set up an account and get all your info just to tell you they can't verify the bank they approved for me to use, therefore I can't access anything in my moneylion app but they still want to steadily send me emails about getting loans or I qualify for this much Instacash but if i apply for it, I get told they can't verify any of my info therfore I don't qualify. They contradict themselves constantly. It's not cool to mess with people who really could use the Instacash to get by until payday or whatever their circumstance.

Again, I despise crappy companies!!

So after my previous review it looked like money lion was on its way to do something about their useless customer service. Here again my account is LOCKED for no reason I have been with money lion for almost a year and yet again they did it again! THEY LOCKED MY ACCOUNT FOR NO REASON WITH 6000 DOLLARS FROM MY PAYROLL GOING INTO IT THIS WEEK. They had previously done this and again I called customer service and all they can say Is 3-5 days they delay you 3-5 days every time u have a simple conversation that gets you NOWHERE with their team. They already costed me 300 dollars and late fees when they closed my account last week. Today I call and customer service tells me that I NO LONGER QUALIFY FOR THEIR MONEYLION ACCOUNT. NOTHING HAS CHANGED this account had been opened after it was cleared what is the problem now???

This process that they have is useless they are costing people money and most importantly time.

Their gate keepers at customer service don't have a clue on what they are doing.

I guess it's my fault for giving them a 2nd chance.

STAY AWAY.

This is the absolute worst company I have ever had the displeasure of opening an account with. To even call it a bank account is bad on my part. I recently opened a money lion card as my options for brick and mortar banks at the moment are limited for reasons I don’t care to get into. That being said I solely rely on money lion for my banking and everyday purchases such as paying bills, buying my daughter food clothing the daily essentials etc etc. Since opening the account for the better half of about 2 weeks, I’ve had over 3 thousand dollars deposited into my money lion account via cash out from PayPal. Never once had an issue. Made purchases daily and even made major purchases with the account including my rent which is around 1400 dollars give or take. Again never having issues with any of that stuff that is until early yesterday afternoon where I received an email stating my account had been locked due to fraudulent activity. Never was a fraudulent charge on my account and if that was the case, I would have most certainly contacted money lion or meta bank on that matter. To cut to the chase, I basically got that issue resolved after hours of aggravating phone calls to foreign representatives who clearly show no sympathy or understanding of how hindering these situations can be. This morning I was unfortunately met with the same issue as the day before except this time my account was apparently closed with 508 dollars still on my account. Tried numerous times to call money lion and nobody is any help. Surprise surprise right? Anyway, upon calling multiple numbers trying to get a hold of someone who could explain to me at the very least on what’s going on I was met with generic pre scripted answers that had little to nothing to do with my specific situation. I did nothing other than use my money lion card and account for your everyday needs, even read the terms of service to make sure I didn’t step out if line and after reading it 3 times over I knew I had done nothing wrong and it was money lion scamming me for 508 dollars. It’s beyond me how a company closes your account and doesn’t let you withdraw funds. Literally the only source of money I had was on here and now I’m in a frenzy trying to situate a mess I didn’t create. If anyone out there has a resolution to this please let me know because I feel so helpless at the moment. I’m looking into hiring an attorney just because I don’t see anywhere else to turn.

I have been a customer of Money lion since 2018. I have never had an issue with them. I also have never had a fraudulent charge on my account, until 4/16/2022.  My card was used at a Walgreens for $360 in a state I do not go to nor reside. I filed a dispute via phone, and was directed to fill out a form. I was advised it could take up to 45 business days to be investigated. Well on 4/28/2022 I received an email that said:
 We have thoroughly investigated your claim and determined that no error has occurred.
This notice serves as final resolution of your claim.  You may request a copy of the documents we used in determining the final outcome of the investigation.  If you would like to request copies of the documents or have further questions, please look for the contact information on the back of your card.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you. We appreciate your business and the confidence you have placed in us. If we can be of further assistance, please look for the contact information on the back of your card as we would be happy to assist you further.

I CALLED CUTOMER SUPPORT AFTER REVIEWING THIS EMAIL I ASKED FOR A SUPERVISOR IMMEDIATELY. AFTER WAITING ON HOLD FOR 45 MINS TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN MANAGEMENT  I SPOKE TO A JA WHO WAS NOT HELPFUL AND ALL SHE WAS DOING WAS READING HER SCREEN. THE CALL DROPPED UNEXPECTEDLY AND I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY CALL BACK, I HAD TO CALL AGAIN AND WAIT ON HOLD AND I SPECIFICALLY ASKED FOR HER. I WAITED 17 MIN THIS TIME. FURTHERMORE, SHE ADVISED ME THAT I WOULD NNED TO EMAIL AN APPEAL! THIS BANK HAS 0 FRAUD PROTECTION, AND THEIR INVESTIGATION PROCESS IS BOGUS! THE PERKS OF GETTING PAID TWO DAYS EARLY AND INSTACASH ARE ALL GREAT; BUT WHO WANTS TO BANK WITH SOMEONE THAT CANNOT DO A SIMPLE JOB AS DETECTING WHEN SOMETHING FRADULAENT IS TRANSPIRING, THERE WERE NO ALERTS OF ANY SORT. MOREOVER I AM A RESIDENT OF NJ, THE TRANSACTION TRANSPIRED IN BROOKLYN NY. THE LAST TIME I USED MY CARD WAS IN MY HONETOWN, MY CARD WAS USED MINUTES LATER IN ANOTHER STATE AS I AM IN POSSESION OF MY CARD. UN REAL. SO NOW I AM WAITING FOR AN "ADVOCATE" TO CALL ME BACK. I WILL BE OPENING A SMALL CLAIMS CASE AS WELL AS REPORTING TO THE BBB.

DO NOT TRUST!!! It was good until I disputed $1600 that was fraudulently taken through debit card transactions. I was never alerted, despite having alerts active. Money lion closed my account and locked me out. Said that I violated their agreement. I asked how?? They can't tell me. I asked for my remaining balance but was told that they would "ATTEMPT" return to originator. I supplied the information of the original account in my name but they said they won't return it, it will sit in escheatment for 3 to 5 years... Here are some off my emails as facts:

I asked one question from money lion. Why can't you return my money???? I did not abandon my account per laws of escheatment. Why can't they answer my question??  They have my bank information. They know who the originator is. Yet, they ask that I remove personal information from this review. I don't have anything to hide. They do....no transparency. No answers...I'm not someone who judges but what they do is  wrong. A legitimate banking institution will not deliberately try to keep your money from you. Do not put your money in money lion unless you can afford to lose it. My experience is real and not biased. I actually liked money lion until they screwed me over and now I know they can't be trusted. I have yet been able to speak with someone from money lion who can answer my questions. 
 Banks are supposed to be trusted with our money. BEWARE of the roaring lion, they will devour your assets...

After banking with them for almost a year, they decided to send me and block my account with over 2000 dollars in it after stating that my account was flagged due to some activity, I submitted all the documents required including a picture and screenshot that it was in fact me who made the withdrawals. After they unblocked me for less than 1 hour they blocked me yet again and sent in the information yet again with a picture of me holding my ID. I then get a message from them stating that my account was closed and that I should get my money or atleast attempt to send it back to my state after 3-5 years. This company is a scam and they will take your money and ignore you requests to get help to resolve the issues. DO NOT BANK WITH THIS SCAM! I have reached out to the BBB and other areas as this is not okay that they do this.

Moneylion lies to customers about early deposits saying they post deposits as soon as they receive them. WELL THEY ARE holding ssa deposits until Sunday the 1st  while all other early deposit banks and cards posted deposits today the 29th. They gave me a reason that was how there system works so my deposit is with the and they will hold it until 2 days prior to the 3rd no matter what holiday or weekend. MONEYLION FIRST LIE AND DOWNALL HOLDING PEOPLE MONEY 2DAYS LONGER THAN all other early pay deposits banks with no real concrete reasons to offer  They lie by saying the don't hold your money and post as soon as received. You are put on shame wall for this big lie false advertising 😒.  Now they do have other great tools associated with the lion and so far those get A+ from me.

I recently signed up and used insta cash just fine I verified my identity when signing up and my bank. I even paid back my advance early by 2 days now they asked me to upload my ID which I did front and back then my app froze so i restart it and they declined my ID wont let me reupload it or accept any other proof I have which is a lot my id my birth certificate my ss card my address bills in my name. You name it I have it but when reaching out to cs they just said sorry cant help you or tell you why it declined it or how to fix it nor do we accept any resubmission of id on chat its just ridiculous to me that I have a valid id and am willing to provide a ton of proof and they wont even anser emails and chat people are not helpful at all they wont do anything they wont tell me anything and are rude. Moneylion has become another one of those money apps that just dont care about customers especially honest ones just trying to get by that are who they say they are i am really sad over all this.
