Mercury takes too much of time time

As a startup CEO, you don't have time. Mercury eats more of my time than any bank I've worked with. Did you make a sale? Need to deposit check? Get ready to spend more time depositing that check than you did for the sale itself! Process: 1. Attempt deposit. Fail. 2. EMAIL customer support. 3. Wait. 4. Credit limit raised. 5. Deposit again. 6. Wait. Repeat steps 1-6 for every new check. Thus far relatively small $10k, $20k, $30k, size checks blocked for "deposit limits" and had to jump through hoops. Be prepared to wait a least 7-14 days for any cash to come into your account. I'm switching back to Silicon Valley Bank. These guys do not have a competitive product. Need to call / chat securely with customer support? Doesn't exist.

Slow, unintuitive, lackluster support

The apps are slow, the UI is sometimes non-intuitive, the Android app is missing features, and the site drives you hard on up-selling which for a brand new sole proprietor business is unhelpful. Their support offering are lacking. The docs are focused towards invoices, their support hours are limited and understaffed. A month in I'm not sure I'll be sticking with them.

Mercury is a Fraud. They Blocked my account and won't return my money

Mercury has suddenly blocked my account without notification or anything like that, and they won't return my money. I only found out that they blocked my account when I started receiving notifications from other companies that my payments failed. I contacted them and all they could say is: Your account has been placed under review by our compliance team; as a result, access to your account has been restricted. We can't provide further details at this time, but we will let you know once our review is complete. I had about $1000 and when I requested my money back and they stopped answering. I wish I had read the reviews before signing up with them, as it seems other people are in the same situation as I am. I'm literally puzzled how a bank can just take your money away and not answer. #Mercury is a scam and a fraud and I will complain to the BBB and FDIC

Mercury fails to protect your business. Save your time

I created a business checking account on Mercury.com, a bank that issues both virtual and physical debit cards. On 04/22/22 at 11:41AM Pacific Time/Los Angeles, an unauthorized transaction of $3,390.00 was made on a virtual debit card linked to my Mercury account (created automatically during account set up). I immediately reached out to their support team at 11:54 AM, 13 minutes after the fraudulent charge was made on April 23. John, a dispute specialist from Mercury, responded on Friday April 22 at 1:27 PM. John stated, "In this situation we do suggest that you reach out to the merchant directly first to resolve this, if you haven’t already. Apple (merchant) should be able to provide more details about the nature of the transaction and what it was for." Considering no other company has access to my virtual debit card, I was unsure how Apple's customer service would address this incident any more effectively than Mercury. I discovered that the fraudulent charge took place in New Hampshire. This was a huge shock to my partner and I, as we are located in California. Apple was unable to provide any additional information without a police case. I attempted to call the non-emergency phone number for the police in the area 4 times. They did not pick up the call. The number for the non-emergency police line was provided to me by an Apple employee I spoke to over the phone at the store branch in the Mall of New Hampshire. The team at Mercury does not take calls or respond to emails over the weekend, so I had to wait until the following Monday of 04/25/22 to continue the conversation. This had placed my business in a bind as we have payments we are responsible for. However, having funds stolen from my account has jeopardized my business and mental health. Aside from this, there are no public phone lines to reach their dispute/compliance team. Their general customer service has to get in contact with their dispute/compliance team directly. I notified Mercury of the information Apple Inc. provided regarding the claim, and let them know that the police were unresponsive. Despite trying all the solutions I was given, nothing was being done by Mercury to resolve this fraudulent purchase. Our first contact email received from their dispute team was Fri, Apr 22, 1:27 PM. Mercury failed to freeze the transaction while it was still pending. While speaking with the Mercury customer service team to resolve the fraudulent claim, they closed our account in order to avoid providing us credit for the fraudulent charge that was charged on our account. In the midst of our funds being compromised by an unknown entity, Mercury decided to permanently close our account. Their representatives claim they have their client's interest as a priority. Ironically, they quoted via our phone call, "Most decisions from our dispute team are usually final once concluded." This is a predatory and harmful practice. The complaint is filed against Mercury Bank for its failure to handle the case in an effective manner. Mercury Bank is accused of wrongful closure of the account to divert blame away from themselves. Mercury Bank has wronged my business and seems content with their clients getting their accounts hacked without putting in an ounce of effort.
