We needed help so I used live chat and it was really refreshing to get hold of an advisor so quickly.  They knew exactly what to do to solve my problem and it was all sorted really quickly. The worst customer service I have ever had. Stuck in a loop of answering the same questions over again and again. Had to prove my identity because they had wrong dob for me. They still have not told me why my card has been stopped leaving me without acces to my own money. Shicking

Simply brilliant. Excellent app and very easy to use. Created accounts for our young boys and given them a bit of freedom to buy their own online gaming purchases. 
As a free service this is just fantastic, as a monthly fee for 3 children would make this unaffordable.

Seems my experience has been the same as a few other people - uploaded documents twice & first it says continually it will take 5 mins and -after messaging customer services apparently it takes 72 hours - and I just logged on and now it’s asking me to upload documents again! It’s a shame - I wanted to sign up my 3 boys on this and I am also a financial educator and was using this in one of my talks with parents - and sadly I can’t recommend the service.

Tried to open an account for my Son, for some reason, failed all the tests to open the account, despite sending documents clearly confirming my ID. Lived at the address 5 years, have Mortgage and Credit Cards registered here. 

Told to wait 72 hours for an email to continue, that was a week ago! Tried multiple ways to contact this Hyper Jar, even via Social Media, zero response back! 

I have learnt the last few months, dealing with faceless companies on the internet, who’s only contact method seems to be email or messaging is just stressful and unprofessional. 

Hyperjar is a fantastic idea to help teach kids to manage their money, shame its managed so badly, had high hopes, really cant be bothered to keep chasing them

20/5 Update - Quick to contact me after the initial bad review, however now zero responses to emails and account still not open and working! Said within 72 hours, 6 days now thats taken! Nearly 2 weeks trying to open an account in total! Lost interest

To say that their customer service is terrible would be slightly unfair as I actually didn't even get a reply to two complaint emails. No doubt you will get the "ooh how can we help" now that I've posted a public review but to simply ignore customers' emails is just not good enough in this day and age.

Non-existent customer service

Well…. My circumstances are…. Was then 12 year old daughter who wanted some independence around paying for things. 

I scoped the main banks and it was just a struggle. I then tried other cards for kids and just felt ripped off having to pay £2.50 a month - when in reality, my daughter may not even spend £2.50 herself in a month. 

Then I discovered HyperJar. Opening an account was a breeze. Much like any of the online banks now. I didn’t really want another bank card - but I’ve filed it and I don’t need or use it in that way. 

What I got was an app and ordered a card for the daughter. A proper card that can be used online or contactless - but I have total control over it. 

She downloaded the app - but it went wrong. She added her middle name causing her app to not synch with mine - but I got onto online help - and Jake was first class. In about 20 minutes he had deleted her account remotely and stayed online until we had set the daughters up. 

No hassle. No posting pictures of herself to verify who she was. All quite safe. 

Your child does need their own email address and mobile phone number. This wasn’t an issue for us. 

I found the app confusing at first. Setting up the jars and setting permissions for my daughter & wife. But got there in the end. 

How I do it. 

I have my wallet. The main jar. I have a standing order that puts £10 per month into it. Only I can see that. 

I then have another jar that I set with my wife. Only the wife can see that. Every now and again we both stick £5 in that. 

I then have the daughters jar. My wife and my daughter can see that. 

So when I want to give pocket money - I put it into my daughters jar for her to spend. This can either come from my main wallet or from the shared one (joint jar) that my wife and I both equally contribute to. 

Daughter goes off to the shops. Pays by chip & pin; contactless or Apple Pay. 
I get a notification of what / where & when she’s spent money. 

If I don’t want anything to happens - I can just freeze the account. 

Really is a safe & controlled way to introduce you children to card payments etc. 

No complaints. I recommend this to any family.

Customer live chat is very fast and my issue (which was just a misunderstanding on my part)  was resolved within a couple of minutes. Love how organised my finances are now. How did I ever manage without it! Would definitely recommend.

I read good reviews about Hyperjar and they don’t charge like other prepaid card companies do, such as GoHenry. The main reason for setting up an account was to enable me to set up accounts for my children. I downloaded the app and I was a bit dubious about entering my passport details, so I looked at some reviews to make sure it was all legit. I carried on with the signing up. I successfully opened an account and I went on to open two other accounts for my children and put some money in their ‘jars’. Their cards arrived after about 3 days. That same day I received an email saying that they had closed my account as they couldn’t offer me one at this time! There was no explanation, it just referred me to their terms and conditions! So I emailed the support email address, no response. I messaged them through WhatsApp and was told that there was nothing they could do and couldn’t tell me why my account had been closed. I also asked if my children could use their cards, I was told no! So I am now waiting for a response from them as I replied to the original email I got in relation to closing my account. They have all my personal details, there is money on my children’s cards and I can’t even speak to a human being because they are an ‘online company’! The service I have received has been totally unacceptable! They should not be asking for such personal information like passport details. They certainly shouldn’t be opening accounts and then closing them with no explanation. I would not recommend them to anyone and I will continue to stay with GoHenry as they are a very reputable company. I don’t mind paying for a service if they are professional and are completely open and honest about their product. Not a happy customer at all!

I’ve just attempted to open an account through the app and despite providing passport details, credit card statements, phone bill, was continually asked to provide more. I did receive a reply explaining that jpgs but not screenshots were allowed so, against my better judgment, I carried on in hope, this time with an energy bill. All showed my full name and address. Then received an email stating ‘we are unable to open an account for yourself at this time and there is no further information we can provide regarding this’. I’ve never once failed a credit check or had any issues opening accounts before, so find it astonishing that Hyperjar refuse to even provide a reason. Have asked them to remove my personal details; let’s see what happens. I seee they’ve replied indicating details are removed when an account is closed but would like confirmation that details are removed even when an account isn’t opened or whether it stays floating on some system somewhere

After the early teething problems, I have found Hyperjar to be very useful for increasing my children's financial awareness and money management skills.  I have now started to show them the cost of managing a household and what goes into making everything happen.

The benefits:
- easily transfer money to and from the Hyperjar account

- jars are very easy to set up and share with children (or other adults)

- the app provides an analysis of your spending

- the autolink set-up is great, eg I can set up a jar with grocery money and then every time I use the card in the supermarket the funds will be deducted from that specific jar.


The downsides:
- you cannot have 2 parents on the account with the same privileges

- the way the app records pre-authorised transactions when I am doing the grocery payments can be frustrating as I have loads of lines of Tesco £0.00 which clouds the actual transaction list.  This happens every time I make a change to my order.

- the cards cannot be used at an ATM (this would be very useful for one off, ICE, usage)

- the kids' cards are unattractive (my children were both seriously unimpressed with the look of their Hyperjar cards)

We are still quite new to HyperJar but so far we can't fault anything at all. From setting up the account, to cards arriving super quickly. Recently a small problem with my sons card a message on the app saying on temporary hold ( which turned out to be something else he had done and nothing to do with HyperJar) I contacted the team and received a swift reply and advised accordingly (again the advice given was not really anything to do with HyperJar but they still took the time to help where they could) Looking forward to exploring the app and using it to it's full potential.

Love Hyperjar! And so do my kids. Especially my older son, with him going out and about, on his bike, running around etc., means now he doesn't have money jangling in his pockets, just slips his card in his phone case. I can also limit what he spends on his card so that he isn't buying a load of rubbish, and he can also save on it too. I wanted a card that wasn't linked to his bank account and could only spend what was on it, the bonus, it's free to use! I have had to contact customer services twice, and the problems have been sorted in no time at all, always polite and prompt aswell. Highly recommended!

Would’ve given it a 5* personally I don’t have any complaints and hope not to but firstly thank you hyperjar everything seems tip top been you guys for a year I would like to raise some points which would benefit customers . I know what you gona say due to the free account and keep costs down in order people to use it free etc BUT hyperjar seriously need to think about allowing customers being able to have he option to withdraw from ATM and to be able to send and receive money as much times as they want tha would be a bonus and I think hyperjar need to reconsider and have a look into things hyperjar has a potential of becoming a proper bank and to be on par or better than Monzo & Starling I’ve taken a look at the app and I have studied how hyperjar has is potential to become a proper bank and it can work. I’ve read some of the reviews and it’s very concerning hyperjar asking people for proof of funds from strangers bank statements  that can be an invasion of privacy. Also I would like to add in it would be nice for hyperjar to include an option of a statement is good to see in depth of what people spend or unrecognised transactions and of course more importantly if an organisation wants proof of an address it would be handy to be able to have an option for a statement. I think as we’re in 2022 and we’re becoming more digitalise I think hyperjar should look into things and see how it will benefit for customers. HYPERJAR thanks again and hopefully will see a change in hyperjar in months or years to come.

HYPERJAR big potential to become a BANK

It's really good to be able to give cards to the kids and to give them responsibility and pay as we do especially online and as many businesses prefer cashless payment now too. Hyperjar unlike some has a really good and fair fees system with no monthly charge or transaction fee. I have used their support chat this week too and it was very fast and effective... and we have used the cards for over 6 months without issue. 

There is some room for improvement. They need a basic kids app so the kids... *edit* You can download the same standard app and that can be set up as a kids app, I didn't realise this.

HyperJar is brilliant, the best way to give your kids some responsibility without the worry.  The app is so easy to set up and use and transferring money between the jars is so quick.  I think this is a great idea. My experience has been amazing and I would definitely recommend to anyone who has kids and wants to give them some independence.  The customer service is also really good,  I haven't had any issues, but one of the cards did not arrive and they arranged for it to be re-sent straight away and it arrived within a couple of days.

I love hyperjar & have recommended it to all of my friends & family, so far I have kids cards for 3 of my children (my youngest are not yet old enough for the cards) they love having their own cards & being able to pay for the things they want by themselves & it gives me peace of mind knowing they're not carrying cash while out with friends. Its so easy to use & the online chat with customer service is great, I recently had a problem with a subscription that wouldn't let me cancel & after starting a conversation with Andy the problem was resolved in minutes. I would like to thank Andy for being so polite, professional & understanding of my issue. My two kids use Hyperjar for a year. No hidden charges (so far no charges at all). I can top up in minutes, simple to use. Recently my son blocked his card pin. I was connected to an agent within a minute on online chat and with help from Andy who was friendly and polite I was assured that the card will be unblocked within few hours. I've got an email once it was done as promised 3h later.

I use HyperJar and have enjoyed using it especially because my children get bank cards FOR FREE. 

My daughter mixed up her pin and used the wrong one 3ce. The card didn’t get blocked but instead, it demanded a signature everytime it was used. That was very impressive because the alternative of a blocked card seemed far more daunting. And as I hadn’t frozen the card on my app, she could still access it.

After she got tired of always needing a sign off from the store representative per use, I sent an email to Gina (hyperjar support) and got an immediate response. That was impressive!!
What was much better was that they followed up asking if the process was successful and how else they could help. 

This is my summary
Wonderful Product, Top Notch Customer Care. 

And yes, her card works perfectly now

Brilliant app, great electronic version of the American “sinking fund” way to manage your money and help get out of debt!? Budget for everything guilt free!! You can put away a £5 a month and have a guilt free hair cut. You can put money to one side for bills or a jar for own spends. 
Takes the remembering what your budget is for (and also the F it purchases) if you spent out of your groceries jar, you know you are going to spend less on food, when you need to buy food…. 
Sharing account is also fantastic without hitting your credit rating!!! 
HyperJar won’t replace your general bank account as you can’t pay D/D with it but that may come in time. There are a couple of little things that I would like to see but again they may come in the future.
Contacting the team is painless and they are always helpful and approachable in their responses!!

Brilliant app

Have used HyperJar for several months without problems, when I tried to withdraw money that a friend lend to me my account got suspended, in result I have been unable to pay for car repairs and have been walking to work as I am unable to pick up car from garage without payment, I am pregnant and very stressed by this situation. 
Update after reply: 
Doing checks it’s ok, I don’t mind that, this been ongoing since Monday, I have nothing to hide and feel very disappointed with the approach, I emailed and emailed compliance team and nothing back since Tuesday, this is a very stressful experience. If I didn’t need this money it wouldn’t have been lend to me, asking for someone else statement is an invasion of their privacy, I don’t want to know what they spend their money on.
